🦮 Large · Hungary
A wire-coated Hungarian pointer bred for versatile hunting, exceptionally energetic, affectionate, and closely bonded to its owner.

The Wirehaired Vizsla is intensely loyal, eager to work, and remarkably affectionate to the point of being a true velcro dog. Without enough activity it quickly becomes restless or anxious.
It needs a great deal of daily exercise such as running, swimming, or hunting-style work and is unsuited to quiet households.
The wiry coat needs occasional hand-stripping or thinning and is more weather-resistant than that of the smooth-haired Vizsla.
Not really suited to beginners, since its very high exercise and occupational needs, along with a tendency toward separation anxiety, require experienced, active owners.
The breed is generally considered healthy, though hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and hypothyroidism do occur.
