🦮 Large · Germany
An endurance-built pointing dog with a strong hunting drive and high work ethic that is hard to satisfy and becomes unbalanced without regular hunting or sporting outlets.

The Large Munsterlander is eager to work, alert, and closely bonded to its owner, showing pronounced hunting enthusiasm in the field. As a purely family dog without a job, it often seems unbalanced.
Exercise and stimulation needs are very high; extensive daily exercise with opportunities to search and retrieve is necessary. The breed particularly suits owners active in hunting or dog sports.
The medium-length coat needs regular brushing, especially on the ears and legs, to prevent matting. After field work, ears and paws should be checked for injuries or foreign objects.
Its strong hunting and working drive makes it unsuitable for pure apartment living or inexperienced owners. Without regular, demanding activity it frequently develops behavior problems.
Breed-typical conditions include hip dysplasia and occasionally inherited eye diseases. Regular joint checks are recommended for active hunting dogs.
