🦮 Large · Canada
The Canadian Eskimo Dog is a powerful, primitive arctic sled dog with a dense coat, strong pack instinct, and is one of the rarest dog breeds worldwide.

The Canadian Eskimo Dog is independent, tireless, and strongly anchored in its pack, usually friendly toward people but not very submissive. Small animals immediately trigger its hunting instinct.
Its exercise needs are very high; the breed needs plenty of exercise, ideally pulling or sled work. Pure apartment living without a job does not do it justice.
The dense, weatherproof double coat needs regular brushing, especially during heavy seasonal shedding. In warm climates, care must be taken to prevent overheating.
As a rare, primitive working breed with a strong will of its own, it is better suited to very experienced owners with space and a job for the dog than to beginners.
The breed is considered genetically robust, but because of its small population, careful breeding selection is important to avoid inbreeding.
