🐾 Small · Italy
The Volpino Italiano is a small Italian spitz with a fox-like face, a lush white coat and a lively, watchful everyday temperament.
The Volpino is spirited, alert and very attached to its family, announcing strangers loudly. It is considered bright, playful and eager to learn.
Exercise needs are moderate; daily walks and play are enough, while mental stimulation keeps this alert little spitz additionally balanced.
The long, standoff coat needs regular brushing to prevent matting, but despite its volume it is relatively easy to maintain. Excessive barking should be trained early.
Its friendly, adaptable character makes the Volpino well suited for beginners too, as long as its enthusiasm for barking is channeled early.
The breed is considered robust and long-lived; patellar luxation and dental problems from the small jaw occur occasionally.
