🐾 Small · France
A very small, highly intelligent companion dog that bonds closely with its owner and, despite its compact size, needs clear mental stimulation and regular grooming.

The Toy Poodle is attentive, eager to learn, and closely bonded to its family. It is rarely aggressive but reacts sensitively to loud environments or rough handling, preferring calm, reliable routines.
Despite its small size, the Toy Poodle needs daily walks as well as mental stimulation through trick training, scent work, or small agility exercises. Excessive jumping off furniture should be avoided due to its delicate joints.
The curly, non-shedding coat must be brushed several times a week to prevent matting and trimmed by a groomer every four to six weeks. The ears and teeth need additional regular checks.
Thanks to its good nature, high trainability, and low sharpness, the Toy Poodle suits first-time owners well. However, the recurring grooming effort should be planned for from the start.
Breed-typical conditions include patellar luxation, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), and a tendency toward blocked tear ducts with visible tear staining. Regular eye exams and knee checks by a vet are recommended.
