🐾 Small · Russia
A tiny Russian companion dog, alert and devoted, well suited to apartment life but too delicate for households with young children.

The Russian Toy is spirited, alert, and strongly fixated on its primary caregiver. It is reserved to wary toward strangers without becoming aggressive.
Short, frequent walks and play sessions indoors are enough. Its urge to move is low, though it still appreciates mental stimulation.
The short-haired variety needs almost no coat care; the long-haired variety needs occasional combing. Because of its delicate bone structure, care is needed when playing and when picking the dog up.
Well suited to beginners, being low-maintenance and adaptable to living situations. Still, its fragility calls for conscious, gentle handling, especially around children.
Breed-typical issues include patellar luxation and an open fontanelle in puppyhood, along with an elevated risk of limb fractures. Regular orthopedic checkups and caution with jumping are recommended.
