🐾 Small · Sweden
A short-legged Swedish spitz originally bred to herd cattle and hunt mice on farms, agile and self-assured.

The Swedish Vallhund is confident, friendly, and an alert watchdog, while remaining playful and energetic with a pronounced herding instinct.
It needs daily exercise and mental stimulation; herding-style tasks and agility suit it well.
The dense, weatherproof double coat sheds heavily by season and needs more frequent brushing during that time.
Well suited to first-time owners, provided its herding instinct and energy are channeled through regular activity.
The breed is considered robust and long-lived; hip dysplasia and progressive retinal atrophy occur occasionally.
