🐾 Small · Wales, United Kingdom
A compact Welsh terrier with a dense white coat, a confident bearing, and an independent yet affectionate nature toward its family.

The Sealyham Terrier is confident, brave and independent-minded, while being very affectionate and playful with its family. It often meets strangers with reserve and alert barking.
Despite its compact build, it needs daily walks and occupation, having originally been bred for fox and badger hunting. Digging and scent games are among its favourite activities.
The wiry coat must be regularly hand-stripped or clipped to maintain its texture, and it sheds very little. Without professional grooming every few months, it quickly mats or grows unruly.
Its stubborn terrier character and pronounced independence call for consistent, patient training, so first-time owners should familiarize themselves thoroughly with the breed beforehand.
The breed is considered robust, though the small population occasionally sees lens luxation and back problems. Regular eye examinations are recommended by breed clubs.
