🐕 Medium · Switzerland
A Swiss bulldog breed deliberately developed from the English Bulldog to improve health and breathing.

The Continental Bulldog is friendly, playful and even-tempered, noticeably more active and agile than the English Bulldog it descends from. It is people-oriented and generally easygoing in family life.
Despite moderate brachycephaly, the breed is playful and needs regular exercise adapted to the climate. Watch for signs of breathing difficulty during heat or strenuous activity.
The short coat is very low-maintenance, but skin folds need regular checking and cleaning to prevent irritation. Since the breed is bred far less extremely than the English Bulldog, overall coat care is straightforward.
Even though the breed has been specifically bred for better breathing, it retains moderate brachycephalic traits, so awareness of heat and exertion limits is important.
Thanks to the targeted breeding program, breathing problems, skin and joint conditions are less common than in the English Bulldog, though they still occur. Life expectancy is correspondingly a bit higher than in the parent breed.
