The Cavapoo is a small, friendly cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Miniature Poodle with an affectionate, easygoing nature.

Cavapoos are considered especially friendly, adaptable, and people-oriented, combining the gentleness of the Cavalier with the intelligence of the Poodle. Aggressive behavior is rare in this cross; most dogs are open toward children, strangers, and other dogs. As with all hybrids, temperament traits vary depending on the parent dogs and generation.
Exercise needs are moderate; daily walks and play sessions are enough, and the breed does not need excessive endurance exercise. Cavapoos learn quickly and benefit from short, varied training sessions.
The medium-length, mostly wavy coat must be brushed several times a week and trimmed regularly to prevent matting. Since Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are known for hereditary heart problems, breeders should specifically be asked about cardiac exams of the parent dogs.
Cavapoos are well suited for first-time owners; their friendly, cooperative nature makes training and daily life uncomplicated. Regular coat care should nonetheless be planned for.
From the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel side, heart conditions such as mitral valve disease and the neurological condition syringomyelia can be inherited; from the Poodle side, patellar luxation and eye diseases. Responsible breeders have both parent dogs tested for heart, patella, and eyes - hybrid vigor is no substitute for these tests.
