🐾 Small · France (Mediterranean region; recognised by the FCI as French)
A confident little French companion breed known for its distinctive lion clip, lively temperament, and alert but rarely yappy nature, surprisingly robust and agile for its size.
Confident, lively, and affectionate, without being an exaggerated lapdog type. Watchful toward strangers but without a strong tendency to yap.
Needs moderate exercise, agile and playful despite its small size. Enjoys small trick and enrichment tasks.
The characteristic lion clip requires regular clipping or trimming. Continuously growing hair makes brushing several times a week necessary to prevent matting.
Its robust, easygoing temperament makes the breed well suited to beginners. The coat clip is best left to a regular grooming salon.
Patellar luxation occurs. The breed is rare, with limited genetic diversity, but is otherwise considered robust.
