🐕 Medium · Germany
The Kromfohrländer is a small to medium-sized German companion breed with robust health that comes in smooth-coated and rough-coated varieties and is known for its balanced, people-oriented nature.
The Kromfohrländer is considered bright, affectionate, and even-tempered, with a close bond to its family. It is generally friendly but reserved with strangers, without being overly fearful or aggressive.
Exercise needs are moderate; daily walks combined with play and enrichment sessions are enough for most dogs of this breed. Many Kromfohrländer also enjoy dog sports.
Both coat varieties, smooth and rough, are low-maintenance and need only regular brushing. Occasional trimming can be useful for the rough-coated variety.
The Kromfohrländer is considered well suited to first-time owners, being adaptable, cooperative, and manageable in its exercise needs. Consistent, friendly training is usually enough.
The breed is considered robust by comparison and was deliberately bred for a broad genetic base and good health. Patellar luxation and eye diseases occur occasionally, and the breed club runs a health-monitoring program for the population.
